El Camino del Bourgeois pigs

Bruno and I had a ‘business’ meeting at the Copa. We actually agreed to refocus our documentary efforts on local stories to test whether we can actually work together or just like sitting around drinking and talking about it. The theme of the stories will be Montrealers such as ourselves, and questioning the morality of the lifestyle we get to enjoy versus the ‘good’ we do in the world. Perhaps as we have set next Thursday to actually film something, we can have the content of the interview still be about Guatemala – as it is the departure point of this effort. The comedy can be that we set out to do something easy – ‘Is there anything like La Haute Route in Guatemala?’ ‘Yeah, there’s this hike along the trail the guerrillas used during the civil war.’
‘Is it exciting, is there anything visually dramatic about it?’
‘Well there are zip lines…’
‘And could the whole thing be done in 10 days?’

And then as soon as you actually look at Guatemala and its history, you realize ‘maybe not the perfect venue for a fluff piece for a tourist channel.’
