The Zen of Action

Of the many and varied wonders of laziness, the opening yourself up to the possibility of deep thinking, free association, and tapping into the murky depths of the creative unconscious, the latest gift is the realization that it is much easier to do your best, than to fuck the dog.

When you're procrastinating or otherwise allowing the monkey mind to keep you from attending to the task at hand, it's as if you've chosen to haul an extra twenty pound weight around while going shopping for groceries.

But when you do the work, and plunge as deep and as far as you can into the moment - the moment where you are acting as impeccably as possible, time and anxiety melt away and you find yourself in the heady state of flow. It happens doing dishes, cleaning up mouse shit, cold calling for a job you don't even want. So god bless laziness - it beats the crap out of striving.
